The Brookings High School and Middle School gymnasiums are critical community resources. They were in bad shape – not just safety issues, but in general. The District was able to secure grants to address the seismic issues related to both facilities. This created the opportunity for the District and Ausland to work together to improve these facilities which are not just for athletics, but host many community events and act as the Red Cross shelter.
The State Seismic Rehabilitation Grant Program (SRGP) funding allowed the design-build team to evaluate the facilities and understand the District’s long term needs. Ausland’s team strategically identified seismic elements and engineering solutions that also addressed other elements that could benefit the District and the community.
Within the requirements of the SRGP funding, Ausland provided the District with new amenities and finishes on the buildings that will serve the students far into the future.
“I have worked with many contractors during my career as a school superintendent and have found Ausland to be the very best. They were always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that the district was pleased with the results.”
