SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY THEATRE &
JEFFERSON PUBLIC RADIO HEADQUARTERS:
LOCALLY SCALING PROJECT SAVES SOU MILLIONS

The Vision Was Clear

Southern Oregon University and Jefferson Public Radio had spent years creating their vision of a shared, modern arts facility. But prior to breaking ground, the price tag of the project had soared way beyond budget.

Enter Ausland and Value Engineering

Ausland took on the challenge of delivering on the vision of these two important community partners. Our integrated team of designers and builders worked with the project architect to radically cut costs without sacrificing critical project elements.

Relationships Matter

The key element to finding solutions was Ausland’s strong relationships with local sub-contractors. Ausland secured better pricing and commitments than the prior out-of-the-area contractor. As a team, we delivered a fantastic, new theater building of offices, studios, and classrooms to SOU and over 7,000 square feet of new and renovated broadcast studio to JPR. Together the vision came true.

“Ausland did an outstanding job on finding value savings in system selection, engaging local subcontractors, and working with the entire SOU, architect, and engineering teams together to make this project a reality. ”
