BROOKINGS, Ore. — Southwestern Oregon Community College breaks ground Thursday on a $6 million building in Curry County.
The Curry campus currently operates out of a library, with classes and labs held at churches, hospitals and Brookings Harbor High School.
The new campus will be a two-story, 26,785-square-foot building. Its seven classrooms will include an allied health suite supporting expanded nursing and emergency medical technician training; a science lab; a computer lab; and high-tech classrooms.
The groundbreaking is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Lone Ranch property on U.S. 101 in Brookings.
The general contractor, Ausland Builders of Medford, is expected to complete the project by fall 2011.
